UFC 111 St Pierre vs. Hardy

I was so excited for this fight card. The primetime episodes leading up to the fights were awesome for GSP and Hardy. GSP looked amazing as always, and Hardy’s determination made me like him even more. Hardy’s jokes did have me cracking up. Although I was highly upset that they were poking fun at the GSP calendar that I can’t even find. Seriously, send me a calendar or a whole box full, so I can put them up my room, the kitchen, at work, the bathroom. And no, GSP doesn’t look as though he as thumb up his ass. I was really annoyed with Serra. Can he ever shut up? Can someone please drop him down a tunnel and let him shit talk himself to death. Maybe he will turn on himself and start telling himself how ridiculous he sounds.

It was easy to predict who was going to win this fight. I think Hardy has a great career ahead of him. He just needs to bring more skills to the table, and not just look for that lucky punch.

As for the actual fights for the night, it was a great night leading up to the main event.

Nate Diaz did a great job in the welterweight division. I was most excited to see this win, especially since so many people dislike the Diaz brothers. Why? I don’t know. I wouldn’t mess with them. It wouldn’t hurt if they smiled every once in a while for the cameras though.

Jon Fitch, while not the most exciting fighter, was able to dominate Ben Saunders, as he does any other opponent, by grinding him into the fence and ground. I was happy when this fight was finally over because when you know what the outcome will be, why watch it any longer. Makes you want to say “Next!”

I’m questioning Miller’s win. Did he win because he because he’s a Jersey boy? …I think so. I thought Boeck actually won this fight without a doubt. He did more in the second and third round than Miller, but what do I know, not scoring that’s for sure. I was more impressed with Boeck’s wrestling and takedowns. Miller had a good first round, but that was it.

What is there to say about the Carwin and Mir fight? Not much really, except poor Mir and WTF was the ref waiting for to stop the fight. I really hope that Carwin takes out Lesnar. Lesnar just needs to go away. Maybe we can drop him down the same tunnel as Serra and forget about them.

For the GSP and Hardy fight, there were thoughts popping in my head that I can’t share with you all, but ladies I’m sure you had the same thoughts. Seriously though, this fight went exactly how I thought it would. Why would GSP stand up with Hardy? That’s too much of a risk. You’re supposed to benefit from your opponents weakness, and Dan Hardy obviously has one or two. Not saying anything bad about Hardy. I like him more and more with each fight, but he wasn’t ready for this level of competition. Who he should have fought next was Koscheck and whooped his ass. That is a knockout I can’t wait to see.

Don't forget about the UFC Fight Night and new season The Ultimate Fighter tomorrow on Spike TV. A great fight card and a new crop of guys make for an amazing night of eyegasms.
